http://www.masonicflashlight.com
Hello Sisters and Brothers,
Thanks to the efforts of WB Michael Affronte of Sumter Lodge # 364, the Masonic
Flashlight website is up and running! Worshipful Affronte is the Web Master.
PLEASE USE THE LINK LISTED ABOVE!
This site will be updated
approximately
every two weeks. We need all of your Eastern Star, Masonic,
and Shrine work sent to
masonicflashlight@sc.rr.com Please do not think that we will receive the
information from someone else. I would rather receive the information from
several people.
PLEASE SEND
THIS LINK TO ALL OF THE SISTERS AND BROTHERS ON YOUR MAILING LIST.
If you like the new web site, please write to Worshipful Michael Affronte at
mdaffronte@netzero.com.
If you know a brother or
grand lodge officer from another state please feel free to send them the link to
our “Masonic Flashlight” and to email us i.e.
mdaffronte@netzero.com
or mfloyd@sc.rr.com
and we would gladly attach their links to our
flashlight so that the brethren here can see what is happening with other
brethren throughout the county.
Thank you for your support,
Worshipful Mitchell Floyd

Prayer
Requests
Sumter Lodge #364 A.F.M.
Brother John Davis:
Brother John is to have a myelography procedure done at
Tuomey with the results being sent to his Doctors at Duke University Hospital in
Durham, NC. Myelography is an x-ray examination of the spinal canal. A contrast
agent like barium or iodine dye is injected through a needle into the space
around the spinal cord to display clearer the spinal cord, spinal canal, and
nerve roots on an x ray. Brother John continues to need our prayer support.
W. Brother J. C. Jones:
Brother Jay has had by-pass surgery and is back in more
familiar places while recovering. Brother Jay extends his heartfelt gratitude to
all his Masonic Brethren for their expressions of concern and most especially
for their prayers.
W. Brother Reed Wesley “Bud” Kuhns:
Brother Bud was admitted to Toumey today because of
elevated heart rate. He will be connected to a heart monitor for the next few
days, which means room 308 will be the center of attraction to the health care
givers on the third floor, drop in and tell Bud I sent you.
R.W. Brother Roy Welch, Jr.:
Brother Roy and I spoke briefly on the phone today (he is
in Palmetto Health 'Richland' in Columbia and sounds to be in good spirits. He
is looking forward to returning home (hopefully tomorrow) to be back with his
family and friends. Brother Roy conveys his genuine gratefulness to his Masonic
Brethren for their expressions of concern and prayer offerings on his behalf.

As
Grand Master, in gratitude for our veteran’s service, I am requesting that every
lodge in our Grand Jurisdiction support the “Victory House” Veteran‟s Nursing
Home in Walterboro, South Carolina. If every lodge would donate $75 dollars, we
can donate a new van to help transport our veterans to the Veteran’s Hospitals.
I encourage each of you to unite and have a fund raising project, if you cannot
raise $75 dollars I assure you any contribution will be appreciated by your
Grand Lodge and our veterans. I can think of nothing better than South Carolina
Mason’s uniting to support the men and women who gave so much while asking
nothing in return. I have asked M.W. Brother G Kent Elkins PGM to take the lead
and work under the direction of our Grand Secretary M.W. G Ray Marsh on this
endeavor. Checks should be made to the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of South
Carolina and mailed to:
M.W. Brother G Kent Elkins PGM

Greenville South Carolina 29607-3136
I dare say that each of us has been touched by, either through personal
experience or you have had a family member or friend with that dreaded
decease…cancer. As Grand Master I am placing upon the trestle board a request
that every lodge in our Grand Jurisdiction support finding a cure for breast
cancer. Over the course of a lifetime, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with
breast cancer. I have asked R.W. Da-vid J. Dechant DGM to take the lead and work
under the direction of our Grand Secretary M.W. G Ray Marsh on this endeavor.
This effort is titled “United for a Cause”. R.W. David will work with the lodges
and gather funds that will be presented to the National Breast Cancer
Foundation, Inc. at our 275th Annual Communication on behalf of the masons in
our Grand Jurisdiction. Checks should be made to the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge
of South Carolina and mailed to:

May
our Father in Heaven hold you in the palm of his hand, sheltered by his grace,
and surrounded with his love is my fervent prayer; so, with love and
appreciation, as always your friend and Brother from Inman.

Lodges of South Carolina Please Notice
As of today, we have uploaded photos of just over 1/3
of the lodges onto the Grand Lodge web site, and online photo album.
The
following districts are at 100%
1st, 10th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 20th, 21st.
Please
continue to encourage the lodges to submit an outside photo of their lodge
building for posting on the district pages.
They may also submit a photo of their primary lodge room, which we will add to
the online photo album.
And ask them to double check the street address we have online to ensure it is
up-to-date. There are still a few lodges for which
we have not confirmed the street address.
Our
online degree work calendar is growing in popularity, and is now the most
visited page on the web site.
Lodges may email notices of their degree work directly to the webmaster. I
usually have it posted online within only a few hours.
Here is a quick link to the calendar page:

We
are continuing to expand the web site as time permits, and appreciate your
assistance thus far.

I make an appeal to you to help out not only MSA, but our vetrans who must be
admitted to Dorn VA Medical Center who arrive with nothing to their name please
contact your MSA Representative and make donations of the following for MSA
office at Dorn VA Medical Center so that our brethren and veterans can at least
have minimum personal items that are not supplied by the hospital. The consist
of;
Toothbrush - Toothpaste, Disposable Razor - Shaving Cream, Shampoo, Anti Perspirant, Hand
and or Body lotion, Comb, Hair Brush.
These things can be purchased at a local dollar store and collected at each
lodge, and given to your MSA Rep, or if you wish contact your local area Veterans
Affairs Office and have the DAV Van Driver drop them off. No one Brother needs
to purchase all the above items, but if you could purchase one item a month,
just think of the self esteem you could give a Brother, Veteran, who would need
these things during a stay at the hospital, these are little things that we take
for granted until we do not have them.

Upcoming DeMolay Conclave and Initiation
To
all Brothers in the 29th Masonic District with male children, grandchildren,
nephews or know of non relative boys aged 12 and above who could benefit from
inculcating the cardinal virtues of: Patriotism, Love of Family and Sacred
things, Courtesy, Comradeship, Fidelity, and Cleanness in these young men
contact Chapter Dad Jason Muldoon (jasonmuldoon@aol.com)
or Advisor Chairman Dr. Dickran Mgrdechian (dickranmgr@yahoo.com)
for an application SOON.
The yearly SC state DeMolay Conclave will be held in Summerville Lodge # 234
(111 North Main St.) on Saturday, July 30, where the multiple degrees will be
conferred in one day! Hence this would be the perfect opportunity to
receive the degrees in one day rather than two and would also be an opportunity
to mingle with many of the other DeMolay in the state.
We here locally at the Chuck Hargis Memorial Chapter meet 2nd and 4th Wednesdays
at Myrtle Beach Lodge at 7:00 pm. During the summer we attempt to do an activity
like going to a Pelicans Game or a Movie, or Bowling instead of holding the
second monthly meeting.
In the past we have had a fishing outing and a shooting outing at an indoor
Range.
We can mail you an application in a matter of days, the applications would be
acted upon in the June meetings and the degrees can be conferred at the July
Conclave!
Sincerely & fraternally

Brethren this an article from
http://www.gmagazine.ro/site/ please visit.
G is the seventh letter from the latin
alphabet and the ninth out of the Romanian one. The Masonic symbolism of
‘G’ letter, whose normal position is ‘polar’, close to the letter I,
letter of the first name of God.
This approach is justified by the fact that the letter G, following
Rene Guenon’s writings, cannot be considered a true symbol. This letter
belonged to the modern languages that have nothing sacred or traditional
but “strands for God”, just like in the English rituals. Being the
initial of the word “God”, the letter was regarded as a substitute for
the Hebrew “Iod”, a symbol of the Principle or of the Unity. The English
Freemasons have identified the three letters of “God” with the three
Hebrew words: “Gamel, Oz, Dabar (Beauty, Strength, Wisdom).
At the same time, the G letter stands in front of the seven arts and
the liberal sciences: Grammar and Geometry – which can be encountered in
the eldest manuscripts 9215/1390 A.D., Regius Manuscript („The Regius
Manuscript - A Poem of Moral Duties”):
„(…)
Grammar is the first science I know,
Dialect the second, so I have I bliss,
Rhetoric the third without doubt,
Music is the fourth, as I you say,
Astronomy is the fifth, by my snout,
Arithmetic the sixth, without doubt,
Geometry the seventh maketh an end, (…)
Geometry the seventh science it is,
(…)”
Out of which Geometry, the seventh, is considered to be Freemasonry.
In the history of Esotericism, the G letter is often linked to the
spiral. The spiral is a concept taken from Buddhism, a religion embraced
by the Theosophers and the Theosophical Society. Theosophy is
characterized by the concept of “The Great Brotherhood of Man”, a
phenomenon inspired by the Masonic Order.
Thus, for the Freemasons, the spiral is the path of ascension to
knowledge.

Brethren,
I have just determined that other non recognized Masonic organizations have recently obtained approval
for a South Carolina License Plate with the Square, Compasses, and letter G on them.
The other Masonic Plate currently at the DMV now has AF&AM on the plate. I have also been informed
that the Prince Hall Grand Lodge is also applying for a license plate and I do not know what Designation
that they will be using. This means that there will be at lest three different Square, Compasses,
and letter G license plates in South Carolina.
Please inform the Brethren in your area as soon as possible that when they are purchasing a
Masonic Plate at the DMV, they must specify the AFM license plate which designates them as Ancient Free Masons.
If a Brother purchases the wrong plate, the proceeds will go to the other organization and the
Brother will have a license plate reflecting an unrecognized "Clandestine" Grand Lodge.
Although the DMV is supposed to be checking for Dues Cards, they will be unable to keep the different
designations straight. It will be up to the Brother purchasing the License Plate.
Fraternally,
Gerald L. Carver
Past Grand Master of Masons in SC
Ancient Free Masons license plates are $30.00 plus the registration fee.
Funds are distributed to Scottish Rites Foundation of South Carolina.
Funds will be used for speech and language therapy for pre-school children and disaster relief.

The 140 year history of Flintville Lodge 158

Since
many senior discounts are not advertised to the public, our advice
to men and women over 55 is to ALWAYS ask a sales associate if that
store provides a senior discount. That way, you can be sure to get
the most bang for you buck
